Long before Customer Care was invented BTC Group were passionate about never letting their customers down, but our suppliers back then were very different to those with whom we now work. Factories shut down for summer breaks, many closed at noon on Fridays and the attitude was very much “take it or leave it”. For this reason we took the decision to bring as many elements of production in-house and therefore under our control. Over the past 30 years this decision has proved to be the right one time and time again. Some 25% of our new customers every year come to us after they have been let down by their suppliers. Our ability, and most importantly, our desire to respond to their emergencies has saved many a job and made us many a friend.

Our customer facing and backroom teams are recognised as having the most knowledgeable and service orientated personnel in the Promotional Merchandise business and with a staff turnover of less than 3% per annum our accumulated knowledge base continues to increase year on year.

Many of our clients from the early days have evolved into giant corporations with their original names lost in the distant past. McDonald’s Hamburgers are now McDonald’s Restaurants, Beechams became Smithklein Beecham and then GSK and the Green Shield catalogue shops became Argos. We now trade with some of the world’s greatest brands including Microsoft, GE and Coca Cola Enterprises. One thing is for sure and that’s how much BTC Group owe all our clients, without them we simply would not exist.

Satisfying clients that include some of the most competitive and successful companies in the UK such as Argos and Cadbury’s is a tough challenge yet we continue to prove that we are up to the task. We are constantly challenged by our clients to seek out cost saving benefits and to create better ways to do business. In 2007 our Far East trading accounted for more than 35% of our total purchases and this figure continues to grow. The investment we have made in our new IT infrastructure and our continuous programme improving our business practises will ensure that we stay at the forefront of cost savings in the future.

Resources and experience to source and deliver their promotional items they are saving their Procurement and Marketing personnel literally thousands of hours a year. Our highly trained staff have a wealth of sourcing experience and purchase goods globally. Orders requiring fast turnarounds can be purchased in the UK or on mainland Europe then printed in-house by the BTC Group print division. Where longer lead-times are available goods are sourced in the Far East and savings of more than 50% can regularly be achieved. Whatever method is utilised BTC Group will always ensure that our manufacturers have complied with our strict code of Corporate Social Responsibility to ensure that our clients brand is protected.

Whilst the price one pays for a product is crucial the days of it being the most important factor are far behind us. With the advent of the internet stories of child labour or environmental disasters are only ever a few minutes away. For over 30 years, BTC Group have had a 100% record in providing products and services to some of the world’s greatest brands including the BBC, BP, McDonald’s Restaurants, Shell and many others. We have extensive experience in Product Safety Testing and are happy to provide full certification for any products manufactured on behalf of our clients. By ensuring that our manufacturers and service providers operate fully within the laws of the land we protect not only our reputation but that of our clients as well.
In 2007 we were proud to be accepted full members of the Ethical Trading Initiative (ETI), which was a unique achievement for a company specialising in the production and supply of promotional clothing and general merchandise.
The ultimate goal of the ETI is to ensure that the supply chain working conditions of workers producing for the UK market meet or exceed international labour standards. BTC Group have agreed to do their utmost to comply with the ETI Base Code and to that end Managing Director Frank Murphy, Sales Director Paul Beirne, and Senior Marketing Manager Jon Birrell have attended Supply Chain Management workshops at the ETI Headquarters in London.
