When you put your ear to a conch shell what do you hear? According to the common myth when you listen to a conch shell you can hear the sea. This isn’t actually the case; it has more to do with sound frequencies bouncing off each other that produce that sound. But the matter of the fact is, whenever you see a conch shell you relate it to the sea due to the sound it makes. This cross association is something that has been identified in the business world also.

The whole point of jingles etc. is to create a catchy tune that you will keep in your head. And when you are making a decision where this company is a choice, hopefully due to the cross association between remembering the tune, to choosing a company should occur and you choose the company based on the fact that it was in your head at the time. I remember as a kid one of the most catchiest jingles on the radio was “Don’t sign on the dotted line until you talk to tempo.” At the tender age of 7 I didn’t even know that Tempo was a furniture sales company, but whenever I past the Tempo store I always used to sing that jingle.

So say that you have a catchy jingle made up, you have tested it with target audiences and it works perfectly, what next, how successful would a radio advert be? Can you guarantee that spending thousands of pounds on a radio advert will work, and even then will it even reach the right demographic? All these problems are risks many companies take before advertising publically, but as a small business can you afford such risks?

To this I suggest something that was probably not thought of before, and that is promotional merchandise. You are probably thinking how will a promotional mug, or a promotional pen convey my jingle to my target audience, short answer is it can’t. But what you need to realise is the promotional merchandise industry has become so much more, and extended into many different consumer products, in this case, mp3/mp4 players. A Season’s Greetings from the BTC Group

It has reached that time of year again, where everyone in winding down, putting down their promotional pens, stepping away from their branded computer mice and getting ready to fill their corporate gifted champagne flutes and celebrate during this great holiday season.

Thankfully here at the BTC Group we have a lot to celebrate about this year! 2011 has been extremely kind to BTC Group, starting off amazingly in January winning the prestigious BPMA award for campaign of the year. This was thanks to an remarkable project taken on by our sales staff to support one of our client’s sponsorship of the Formula 1 Grand Prix at Silverstone.

A few months later BTC Group helped bring the Promotional Merchandise world further into the 21st Century through the launch of their Promo Gifts App. This magnificent application, now available in the ITunes app store, allows customers to intuitively browse through BTC Group’s extensive range of products. We are very proud to achieve what we aimed to achieve through this benchmark App and the response has clearly exceeded all of our expectations.

The month of October allowed BTC Group to display really just what we are capable of with two ground-breaking events. The first and foremost event, BTC Group LIVE 2011 took place on the 12th of October. This extravaganza followed the success of its last VIP showcase in 2009. With over 7000 products on show that astounded visitors leading to over a thousand enquiries on this day alone.

If BTC Group LIVE 2011 wasn’t enough for October, BTC Group also went into the history books with their impressive new printing machine. BTC Group introduced the MHM S-Type to its state of the art factory just outside London, in Hayes Middlesex; this machine is the only one of its type in the whole of the UK. This 16 Station, 14 Colour Print Machine is bursting with innovation, not only does it mean we are able to print more intricate art work, but this machine is in line with our ISO14001 by being environmentally friendly.

November saw the BTC Group added into the prestigious list of companies who provide award winning service, at verygoodservice.com. This exclusive website brings together companies across the UK deliver nothing short of very good service, and BTC Group are proud to be members of this prestigious family and strive to do everything in our power to maintain our award winning status.

As a whole you can see it has been a very successful year for us here at BTC Group, and with several developments already in the pipeline, 2012 is shaping up to be just as good, if not better! See BTC Group Merchandise on BBC’s “Children in Need” on Friday 18th November 2011

BTC Group Children in Need MerchandiseBTC Group have been proud to have been a part of Children in Need for several years on several occasions supplying the full merchandise for the BBC’s Children in need schemes. BTC Group have always been involved in charities ever since its existence in 1977, being a company that believes in helping others, we keep schemes like BBC Children in Need at the very heart of our operation.

CHildren in need itself has been around since 1980, and since this time has amazingly raised over £500 million for children who are less fortunate than others, around the world. The main highlight of the whole Children in Need appeal is the annual televised Charity event that is generally held in the month of November every year. This event takes place at the BBC Television Centre in London.

One of the main reasons Children in Need can work so well with promotional merchandise is because of it’s easily identifiable mascot “Pudsey Bear.” Pudsey was created in 1983 by the BBC designer Joanna Ball. Pudsey is actually named after the designers hometown, Pudsey in West Yorkshire. Pudsey bear has been reproduced, made completely from plants and vegetation, in Pudsey Park, near the town centre of Pudsey. Pudsey was launched in 1985, by the BBC as brown bear, but this design was amended in 1986 to be yellow bear with a bandage, as you see it today. in 2009 Pudsey Bear went through a redesign and the designers came back, with a friend for Pudsey, a brown bear, donning the same style spotted bandage. Which has led to the “Show Us Your Spots” Campaign, which invites people of the public to don spots in different ways, and through different mediums.

The “Show Your Spots” campaign has been great with promotional merchandise, creating dotted promotional items for different places and different situations. One Month On After BTC Group LIVE 2011 Wembley Show

So it’s coming up to a month on since the big Wembley extravaganza and the buzz is still around the office, Wembley stories are still being told, The BTC Group LIVE merchandise is still being passed around and the Business gained from our 2011 Wembley show is still being dealt with. So what have we learnt? The first and probably most important thing learnt is, that eventually no matter how long it takes, but “Hard Work DOES Eventually Pay Off!” The BTC Group LIVE staff worked their promotional specialist fingers to the bone when it came to all aspects of the BTC Group LIVE Show, with a special Mention to our Senior Marketing Manager Jon Birrell, who had many a sleepless night in the run up to BTC Group LIVE 2011.

The whole Wembley mania first began in 2009 where BTC Group joyously triumphed at Wembley for the first time, and with the success of such a show already tasted for the first time, it had to be done again, and that it was, and in style. With some tweaks and additions, Wembley 2011 was setting up really to be the Promotional Merchandise Event of the Year! What more could you ask for in a show of this calibre? A substantial venue, 60 of Europe’s finest promotional suppliers, several promotional merchandise specialists on hand, great networking spaces, informative displays, a delicious lunch, open bar, free pitch tours of Wembley, 2 great seminars, the list can honestly go on….

So now, after the dust has settled down to business, the quality of Clientele that turned up to BTC Group LIVE was absolutely amazing. From the likes of the biggest corporations in the world, to really niche innovative new start businesses. Here at BTC Group we still offer the greatest of service to everyone, with no differentiation between size of corporation, and this was portrayed in this great show we put on which was thoroughly enjoyed, not only by customers but by the suppliers also!

The inquiries we had from this show were seriously out of this world, and after completing this mammoth task, those who attended the show are still placing more inquiries based on what they saw, to this date! It really was a great show, and could not have been done with the enormous support of not only the complete BTC Group Team, but every great Supplier that attended and did their bit at BTC Group LIVE, to them, we salute you.
