Up until approximately 10 to 15 years ago all glass promotional products were branded by the use of glass engraving. This involved the crystal being laid on to a large engraving machine which used a template or metal letters to transcribe the promotional message. Nowadays, all glass engraving is done via sandblasting, which gives a perfect reproduction especially with complex logos and small letters. The system involves the engravers creating a tissue mask from your supplied artwork. The mask is made by silk screen printing the design onto tissue which is then glued onto the surface of the promotional decanter. Once this is in position and has been rubbed down carefully the engraver can then start sandblasting the tissue. Once the process is finished and the transfer is washed off a beautiful reproduction of the design or text is left etched into the glass. It is now also possible to incorporate a 2D finish to these tankards by using multiple masks and engraving at two different levels.
